FM3 Steve Vai - Erotic Nightmares Riff only - No tone match

Hi all

been ages since I've posted anything , but lately I've been re listening to Old Vai albums and forgot how awesome his tones were back then.
Specifically the DLR era and the Rhythm tones on Passion & Warfare
Been doing some reading up on the information super highway and found out he used a Jose Modded marshall so had a go at replicating the intro riff in 'Erotic Nightmares' such an awesome riff I can't stop playing it
Had to use a PEQ between the amp (1959 SLP treble) for added lows and highs, not sure if this i what Vai did but it did help tons!
Oh and the Dyna cabs helped too set to Friedman GB - Dynamic 1 + 2 - set centre

1st Pass is dry , and the 2nd pass has some reverb added like on the record
 
Not trying to troll, but you may want to learn the riff correctly if you're going down this rabbit hole :sweatsmile:

You don't just alternate between 2-3 on the E string. There's an open E on the first repetition. Here's Steve doing it!

 
Man I think I got it 80% there using the jmp pre - got mixed up thinking he used a modded Marshall on P&W but read he actually used a Jcm 900 (according to old interview )
