New user: trying to set up effects loop

I have had my axe-fx 2 weeks, finally getting past noodling to set up for gigs. I want to connect my boss AC-3 acoustic simulator to the effects loop to move if from the floor to my rack, save as a preset with modeling and hit when needed while at a gig. I have followed the directions, but am getting no sound. When I add the effects loop, it kills the sound completely, when I click it off, the sound is back. I am 100% certain this is some type of user error on my part. I have to be missing something. Ideas?
 
Do you have the output 2 knob up.
Personally, I would just do a tone match or ir capture of the ac3 simulator and lose it all together. Fwiw, there are some tone matches of acoustic guitars that are better than the ac3 IMO.
 
I love my AC3 so much, it's sitting in it's box in the closet. There are acoustic presets out there that simple kill it.
 
Thanks, that seems to be the best suggestion, I guess I am still thinking inside the analog box. I love the idea of not having to mess with the pedal at all.
