Hey guys!

Does anyone here have any recommendations on a decent guitar tool kit for basic maintenance / repairs?

Thanks!

I haven't found a kit that has what I would like to have. For home, it's an accumulation of tools; Stew Mac screw/allen driver set, string winder, Husky mini pliers set, small and med triangle file set and Hosko double-edge nut file set. For the gig 'go bag', Kobalt multitool, Gibson guitar multitool and 4-in-1 screwdriver.

First, a mat and neck holder. Here's the one I use:

I have a lot of special purpose tools, but I really like this starter kit from CruzTools:

This is another nice set:

Here's another really useful kit:

I use a Drill Bit Peg Winder a lot. Mine glows in the dark. I can't find a link to it.

Nice call on the mat and neck holder! Ill be picking that up for sure.

It looks like I can get away with my home tool kit for most of what the other kits have to offer.

In the Stew Mac set are the feeler gauges for measuring the string height?

The truss rod adjustment tools look like a set of hex wrenches?

I appreciate the recommendations!

That looks pretty good. Wera tools are quality I have some . The only issue with sets is if you don't need half of what is in it. I would suggest you still just get the things you need. Stew Mac is the worst for this.
Absolutely.
I have several Wera tool sets for different purposes.
And yes it’s always a better option if you only buy what you need.
In my case I lost my whole guitar workshop and tools in the flooding two years ago.
So decided to buy some sets instead of building a new workshop.

Agree with the recommendations above. One thing that is critical for me is that guitar tools are only for guitar work. I have other tools that are for general handy work around the house, but my guitar tools are never exposed to random oils / solvents / paint, and are not used as levers (looking at you, garage screwdriver / paint can opener) or for stabbing zombies (looking at you again, garage screwdriver).
My music room / studio is not a large space, but I prioritize space for a decent set of common tools, and keep the other guitar tools in a tool chest in the adjacent storage room.

I'll echo the recommendations to avoid buying a kit. But high quality tools as you need them. Kits are, in general, going to waste some of your money in the long run.

One thing I would recommend is a high quality Philips point 1 and 2. Spend more than you need too one these and don't use them for anything else . Replace guitar screwdrivers as soon as they show signs of wear because you don't want to mark your guitar screws or damage the heads.
Also overtightened screws is the easiest tell tale mark of incompetent adjustment . Scratch plates so tight they have bent ,neck plates crushing in to the wood. if your scratch plate is not laying flat it is usually too tight on a couple of screws. Sorry rant over (pet hate.)

I like to get into the paraphernalia of it all, so I bought half of the Stew Mac catalog. However, now I just eyeball everything and tweak and get by with a few screwdrivers, wrenches and string cutters because I am too lazy to get the guitar toolbox.
