does this work? if so, where does the preset go? the axe fx seems to do something, but i can't find any presets i do this to on my computer...

You need a midi program to receive and store the preset. USB in this context means the usb midi out as opposed to the other midi out. So you need someone on the other end (i.e. this doesn't imply storage).

Axebackup does this automatically for banks but it would be easy to add preset support.
