Can The Axe II be used as an audio interface between a SME58 mic and my PC?

I was think of buying a Blue Yeti usb mic to do some simply recording to my pc but then thought maybe I could buy a better mic on the order of an sme58 and use the axe as an audio interface to my pc rather than buying a separate one. I can't find any indication that it's possible but thought I'd ask here first before ruling it out. Anyone know?

You'd need a mic preamp of some kind to get the level up. I know that it's dynamic so it doesn't need phantom power, but the balanced inputs on the AxeFXII are looking for a higher level signal.

Now you could see about plugging into the front jack, but I wouldn't even bother with going unbalanced with a mic. Plus I think that there would be an impedance mismatch (even though I'm sure the AxeFXII could handle it).
