My guess would be Cliff is looking at something new with a better UI experience. I think a lot of fuss has been made (and rightfully so) about the Helix and how nice it "looks" compared to the Fractal stuff. Now you've got the Headrush thing with the fancy UI getting attention. A buddy of mine has been using a POD XT Live for years and sat in with my band one night and was blown away by the tone of my Axe-II. He decided he wanted to get something new and now he's actually buying the Headrush because the fancy screen sold him on it. I tried to tell him it's really just a reworked Digi Eleven Rack and won't sound nearly as good as the Axe-8 and he doesn't care. He thinks it will be "good enough" but "that touch screen is so cool!".
I'll stick with Fractal because I couldn't be happier with my tone and that is the most important to me, but I'll be honest and say I REALLY wish I had a foot controller that had scribble strips and was illuminated. I constantly have trouble seeing my MFC on stage and the glow in the dark magnetic labels don't work very well.
I've been tempted to keep the Axe for recording and switch to the Helix for live simply to see things better on stage, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm so happy with my tone both on stage and through the PA that I'm not going to change.
Cliff, if you're reading this, PLEASE come out with something with a modern "dark stage friendly" UI and you can take my money.
