Anyone have any thoughts about the Godin xtSA?

I'm thinking about getting one of these bad boys. If I get it I will probably replace the humbuckers with some Seymour Duncan P-Rails and put in push-pulls on the volume and tone pots. This way I will have single/p-90/series humbucker/parallel humbucker settings plus the piezo plus the 13-pin synth output.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I haven't played the xtSA series, but I had one of their low-end strats as my sole guitar (was in Mauritius for work for 5 months, so I bought one over there) and it was awesome. Unfortunately, I didn't have a hard case, so I couldn't travel with it, but I figured it was cheap and I gave it to a local musician. I'd never been a strat guy before, but it out-played my Fender Mexi-Strat by miles. That strat was a $1000+ guitar with a $500 price tag.

I had one for awhile. I didn't like the trem, but I'm not a big trem user generally.

If you like wider/chunkier necks, you should really like it.

I liked it enough to sell it and upgrade to the LGXsa

Thought I replied earlier, but it might have been lost.

I have one currently. It's a nice guitar, though not my favorite in terms of sound and feel. I have the trem blocked as it didn't stay in tune very well. As JMZ93 mentioned, it has a VERY chunky neck - almost like a classical. I had it plek'ed which helped playability a lot. Overall, it's not bad for what I paid. I originally bought it purely for the midi output - it tracked better than the Roland equiped strats that I tried, but that hasn't worked too well. The Piezo is very nice though.

I have one.
This is a very versatile guitar, but I was not convinced by the stock magnetic pickups. So I replaced the 2 HB's with 2 Duesenberg Domino P90's and the SC with a Duesenberg SC. It is now a rock/blues war machine!

And nice looking:

I found them here:

I was somewhat disappointed with mine and soon sold it. The weight was a big factor plus it just sounded dead and woody' in a bad way. I also had an LGXT at the same time and both had s/dunc p/ups fitted. Mainly because I am at heart a strat/tele' man
I just could not gel' with the Godin . I now have a Roland-strat and find it tracks just as well and cuts through far better plus
it doesn't cripple me after 1/2 hr .

I have an LGXT, which I love...

When I got it, it wouldn't stay in tune, at all, it was horrible. But after I get it professionally set up by someone really good, now it plays great... I had an Axon 50, but the MIDI was never reliable enough for me, so now I don't use the 13 pin out at all...

But it's fun to play and has great tones. The different pickups/positions all come through on the AxeFX well..

Gentlemen, thanks for your opinions and thoughts! After some deliberation, I stumbled upon a used ($300!) Godin Solidac on ebay that I bought.

Raca, the body looks similar to the XTSA you have pictured (and those pickups you have look great with the silver rings!). It doesn't have the 13-pin output, the switches on the body or the acoustic controls. That said, I believe I can shape the acoustic tones well enough with the AXE-fx and I don't really need the 13-pin (although I just saw some of Matt Bellamy's guitars and my eyes opened wide....) Plus I'm replacing the stock magnetic pickups anyway. And for $300, you can't go wrong....

Justinaiken, I see what you're saying about the tuning issues. I just got it last night and had a heck of a time keeping things in tune. I knew this going in, and I think my guitar tech wizards are competent enough to get things working properly as well as plek the frets. I can't wait to see this bad boy when everything is finished and wired up properly!!!

JMZ93, I love the neck on it! It fits my hands perfectly. BTW, I'm down in Windsor, Ontario. Where are you at?

Finally, not to hijack my own thread, but have any of you guys tried combining the piezo output with any of the Fishman aura images? I was thinking that might be a way to get better acoustic sounds (and buy more gear....)
