Amp Speaker Tab settings For NL12

Was reading Cliff's post on matching Cab Resonance http://forum.fractalaudio.com/cliff...atching-your-cabinets-resonant-frequency.html

In my case I am running a complete Matrix amplification ecosystem (GT1000 FX > 2 NL12 cabs)

So what are the optimal values for the speaker tabs page in the amp block for someone using a Matrix amp > Matrix cabs?

You could start with the published Res Freq on the Celestion Century Vintage... posted as 70hz.

According to Cliff's formula for a sealed cab it would be 77hz.


70hz + 10% = 77hz

Oh, cool, I didn't catch that extra 10%.

I've been messing with that parameter too, and if I'm in the 'range', I usually don't hear much difference, but I'm still not quite sure what I'm listening for exactly.

According to another thread the Matrix guys advised 85Hz?

Not using a NL12 but a selfbuild 2x12 cab with Celestion Century Vintage speakers. Tried a lot of low freqs and 77Hz sounds best to me. But as mentioned above as long as you are somewhere close the difference is pretty marginal. Still struggling with the low res because Celestion doesn't publish the corresponding value for this speaker and no matter how I set it, it always seems to high (muddy/boomy) or too low (too little punch).
