A different team works on the AX-8. Once Axe-Fx firmware is "golden" the code is then ported to the AX-8 which can take some time.

I said this about the Axe-Fx multiple major versions ago: firmware development could have stopped then and I'd be a happy player. Any updates now are gravy. I'm glad the Axe gets to work out the kinks first. We get fully baked goodness.

Yes and no. Adding the momentary switching was super cool, but this new 4.0 update doesn't seem like a big enough change to update.
