Wish Chase Bliss Gen Loss

so the only way i can get a convincing flutter is to use the pitch block. i didn't initially, because there's a tiny bit of latency.

in the delay block, the worn tape algo does exactly the right stuff, but you can only hear the modulation if the delay time is above about 50ms, which is a shame.

This is interesting and I wonder if it would be easy enough to port the worn tape modulation to say, the tremolo or phaser block as a stand alone type. I am going to create a wish for this.

so i figure what we would need is...

low latency pitch modulation (two speeds with high depth and selectable waveforms)
bit crushing
sample rate reduction
filtering (perhaps a few pre-defined shapes based on small speakers and old tape machines)
drive
saturation

i've pulled all those in from four different blocks, so i don't know which existing algorithm is close enough to be adapted. you also have to consider the cpu cost as well.

to be honest, there's so much filtering going on, you'd be hard pressed to tell what guitar i'm using, they all sound the same with that preset :)

@simeon - Holy cow. That sample sounds great! I'm running an FM3, and it looks like it did some funky stuff when I pulled in the preset. Would you mind sharing what that signal chain should look like? Since, I'm still new to the forum, it looks like I'm not able to post screenshots just yet, so I'll try to describe the chain I'm seeing.

1st row: Reverb block with nothing going into or coming out of it
2nd row: Out 1 block with nothing going into or coming out of it
3rd row: In 1 -> Comp -> Empty -> Drive -> Cab -> Chorus -> Pitch -> Empty -> Amp -> Empty -> VolPan -> Delay with the delay going nowhere else.
4th row: Empty

here you go. remember to import the IR's and load them into the cab and also set the amp input parameter to "left only".

Awesome! Thank you! You've gone way above and beyond on this one!

In case anyone comes across this and doesn't have an external volume pedal hooked to their unit, I did notice that I couldn't get any signal at the end of the chain with the VolPan block on. I'm new to the Fractal world, so I could be missing something, but I believe that's because the Volume parameter in that block is modified to be connected to an expression pedal in the External 1 spot.

Nothing to be sorry for at all! It was a good troubleshooting lesson on a new piece of gear plus a great sounding preset! I'll take that any day of the week.
