Recording Vocals with Axe Fx 2?

Not to entirely hijack this thread but could you go into more depth about changing the presets or turning effects on or off for different input signal chains? Ideally I could setup some of the "Twenty-one quiet SOLID STATE SWITCHES in 3 ergonomic tiers" to change presets for either the guitar...

Recording Vocals with Axe Fx 2?

I'm planning on spending some time in a studio to find which mic pre and mic work best for me, then plug the mic pre into the back of the Axe Fx and the guitar into the front.. BUT I'M WONDERING how does it work changing presets? I'd like to be able to change the presets and turn effects on/off...

Is the Axe-Fx II XL+ 100% of the way there tonally?

There's a sterile digital cheesiness to it that just doesn't sit right. Maybe I'm just a sucker for real amps. Thanks for all the replies, it seems that a lot of you guys are satisfied by the Axe Fx which is cool but I still haven't heard any clean tones which are as good as a real amp to my...

My band... recording almost done, how the guitars sound?

The song is cool. And the playing is pretty good. But sometimes the tone on the main guitar just sounds a little 'cheesy'. This seems to be a common problem with the AxeFx. It lacks warmth and vibe. Just my 2 cents.

Just to confirm, is this all Axe Fx II XL or did you use a real mic and real amp?

Is the Axe-Fx II XL+ 100% of the way there tonally?

I've heard some great examples of heavy sounds that are just as good if not better than using actual fx/cabs/mics but I'm still not convinced about it's ability to produce a clean sound. I'm pretty close to purchasing a Vox AC30C2 to play with my Fender Telecaster American Standard and I was...

    Checklist for Axe purchase

I have an M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496 would I just be able to take a MIDI cable from the Axe to my soundcard? I'll probably just end up getting a couple of these anyways so I can use it on a laptop?

Just applied for my first credit card (and got approved at 0% for 5 months :D) because I was sick of waiting to get my Ultra. Now that it's time to pull the trigger I don't want to get the unit and not be able to use it right away. So! I plug my guitar, into the Ultra, into the mixer, into the...

IEM's and IR's. Improvement or fail??

I think he meant "it was always that last 2-4% (sometimes up to 10%) of the 'sound quality' that made considerable differences in the cost of a system" rather than "it was always that last 2-4% (sometimes up to 10%) of the cost of a system that made considerable differences in sound quality"

You got a band mate? Djent and clean part both sound fantastic on my laptop which is a skill in itself. Last bit reminds me a bit of Dead Letter Circus, great stuff. :)

Has anyone with a FRFR rig gone this far???

I understand what you are saying. If your goal is to get the feel of a traditional cab setup I would imagine this would be the best way, seeing as it is a cab still. However I personally don't think I will be doing this as you are losing (to me) one of the most powerful aspects of the Axe Fx-...

    Only a 12 month warranty?

Well it appears my fears were unfounded. I keep trying to find negatives about this product, but as of yet I've yet to really hear anything of substance. Only a 12 month warranty?

I'm suprised to find out that the units only have a 12 month parts and labour warranty. I thought 24 was pretty standard, almost like the bare minimum. I'm assuming you can't extend the warranty or anything like that.. I guess I could insure my unit or something. Any of your guys that arn't rich...

FRFR for full band FOH and monitoring

I will worry about a sub if I find myself in a loud full band situation where we are needing to provide our own FOH but until then I don't think I'll need one. So my plan for now is first of all buy a 2nd hand Axe Fx Standard, and a cheap FBC1010. My brother has a pair of Yamaha R115s so I...

Clark Kent: Pogner Telecasterock (Tele+Bogner XTC)

from 0:06-0:25.. and 0:32-0:37, 0:44, you get the point it sounds a bit thin. But with some more bass and vocals it would probably sit great in a mix. Great playing all through, and apart from the above mentioned times I thought it was pretty much perfect and I'm listening on some crappy...

    short ambient noodle

Thanks for the reply, I will have a look at Eivind Aarset and Nils Petter Molvaer now. I normally don't get into instrumental that much but it's certainly growing on me. The manual chopping would seem to have the most control over your sound, but obviously not an option live. I found an okay...

Absolutely loved Lucid Dreaming. Would have loved to have heard The Space Between Breaths with some vocals, but it was beautiful on its own. eScape had like an Aphex kinda sound going on, I love the stutter/freezing sound you do as well on some tracks. I'm assuming that's a post production...

    Testing a Linkin Park preset

Great stuff man! So I'm assuming this was recorded direct from the Axe, what sort of guitar(s) were you using? Intro tone sounds great, from 0:14-0:30, I might not quite LOVE the rhythm tone, but it's more about the mix, because when it tightens up at 0:31, oh man that sounds gnaaaarly :) Heavy...

FRFR for full band FOH and monitoring

I can see where you are coming from, but it strikes me as strange that solutions $600 (FBT) and $1500 (QCS) under my budget, which also happen to be what everyone on this forum seems to be using for JUST the Axe Fx strikes me as a little strange. However maybe a pair of QCS K8/K10s and a KSUB...

FRFR for full band FOH and monitoring

It seems whatever it costs in the US I will pay a factor of about x1.4. If this held for the Coda AP12 (the most discussed Coda this forum it seems) I'd be looking at about approximately $3850AUD for a single speaker. Even if this estimate is considerably high that would still mean a pair of...

I could get an Ultra sent to a friend in America and then shipped onto me for approx AU$2400 through this American site. Clark Kent: Mark IV Idiocracy

This can only be judged in the context it has been given is, so what holds here may not hold when there are other instruments as well.. Can I get an FBT Verve 12ma in Australia?

Now that I have your attention, I'd like to get a discussion going about creating your own MIDI controller for use with the Axe Fx. Where to start!

i might be able to get it sent and then re-directed, not too worried about that. does the power amp colour your sound? I'm going to be running an Agile 8 string through this and wouldn't want a crappy onborad power amp to colour the sound.

Thanks for the heads up on the 12ma, I havn't been able to find one for much under $1000 yet so if anyone has any links that would be smashing.
