    5150 Presence Knob

Why not have it this way: 1. Authentic replicas of specific amps which should be as close as possible to the real amp including it's flaws. In the end it's supposed to be a digital replica. 2. Idealized versions of specific amps that "need" improvements over the original. These should be named...

Axe-Fx Firmware Release Version 18.00 Public Beta

@FractalAudio I' sorry if this has been asked for but it would be great to also have an override function for the global speaker impedence curve. I'm currently using both power amp + cab and FRFR. Thus, I don't want to globally set the speaker impendance curve. With an override function I could...

    Wish Boss hm2

Unfortunately we can't exactly replicate the drive block settings in this video since the drive block overhaul. And I lack the knowledge to convert it to the new drive block. But honestly, just copying the EQ settings and putting any high gain drive model in front of it gets you in the ball park.

    Cygnus Dizzy amps BUG ?

To me it seems as if ch2 and ch3 were accidentally switched when programming models since the ch2 model has more gain and sounds more modern than the ch3 model. And the bright switch doesn't work which the real ch3 (not the model) doesn't have. I have never heard a real silverface VH4, though...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 16.01 "Cygnus"

I can confirm that Ch2 still seems to have more gain than Ch3 (which is odd) and that the Bright Switch doesn't do anything (audible). I cannot hear a drastic difference in volume, though.

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 16.01 Beta 1 Public Beta

I have never played a real Diezel but the fact that the actually gain drops from ch2 to ch3 seems quite strange to me, as well. I just tried it and can confirm it. If you mean that the volume increases when presence is lowered then this is expected behaviour. Cliff has stated multiple times...

No, it's a self built pc which already is a couple of years old. I don't have this problem using my Dell XPS laptop. USB connection issues (Windows 10)

To me it has never seemed related to firmware updates. This update just appeared out of the blue and "survived" multiple firmware updates without any significant changes. I haven't had any success in solving this, yet. Hopefully somebody here knows a solution.

    USB connection issues (Windows 10)

I don't think this problem is caused by faulty hardware. I've been running this pc in the same configuration for years. Initially I didn't have any problems with the Axe-Fx's USB connection. No Differences When Changing Tubes?

When you change the tube type in the amp block things like the simulated output transformer are also changed to fit the tube type best. This means that there is no transformer mismatch (transformer match value stays at 1.0) because the simulated transformer was changed with the tube type. This...

    No Differences When Changing Tubes?

    Any Kemper Experts Here?

The imprint functionality should be integrated in the Kemper firmware by now. So if you own a Kemper you should be able to use them. And then you should be able to shoot IRs of them yourself. This means if I'm not mistaken. I don't own a Kemper, just read the manual.
  24. L

    Any Kemper Experts Here?

Drastic difference even with my (quiet good) non-monitor hi-fi speakers. I can also hear a slight difference in the low frequencies between the amp and the Axe-FX. The Kemper seems a bit quieter, though. While you are at it, have you tried those infamous speaker imprints, Cliff? I would love to...

Shooting IRs of Kemper Speaker Imprints?

Has anyone who also owns a Kemper Profiler tried to shoot IRs of their new "Speaker Imprints"? Help the Fight Against COVID-19

If you just test everyone that died no matter the reason why this will be the result. It's not BS. The question is if this is really what Italy has been doing.
  32. L

    Help the Fight Against COVID-19

I'd assume that dying from complications means dying from it. But I understand that this line might be hard to draw.
  33. L

    Help the Fight Against COVID-19

Which means that the number of deaths from Covid is probably overestimated since dying with it doesn't mean dying from it. Some people might not even have had any specific symptoms and died of a stroke or a heart attack or whatever instead.
  34. L

    Help the Fight Against COVID-19

*FREE* Far-Field Session #2 Cab Pack

I'm wondering whats going on with the Recto cab IRs at 0° angle. Both A and B seem really thin, trebly and scratchy compared to those IRs shot at an angle. The other cabs don't show this behavior. Is it because this Recto cab is just a lot more directional than the other cabs?
  45. L

*FREE* Far-Field Session #2 Cab Pack

Because these notches aren't caused by reflections but by other factors like the inherent frequency response of the speaker/cab? I'm no expert. That's just what came to my mind after reflections had been excluded by Cliff.

Maybe a lot of people are looking at these from the wrong perspective. Compared to my real guitar cab my full range...

Axe-Fx 3 Amp Block Valve Configurations?

Read the wiki page that Yek posted the link to. I merely provided a short summary. There is also a quite a long thread on this forum about the typical mismatch values for a few common tube type changes. Unfortunately I can't find it right now.
  49. L

Axe-Fx 3 Amp Block Valve Configurations?

In a nutshell: The differences you hear when you change the power amp tube type in a real amp are mostly due to output transformer mismatch and not to tube type itself. The Axe Fx changes the virtual output transformer values to match the tube type. That's why the differences are so subtle. I...

  51. L

Implemented Auto-Trim and MPT in the Axe-Fx III

Maybe it's technically impossible but it would be great to be able to minimum phase transform or auto-trim IRs directly with the Axe. This way we could import raw IRs and transform them only if needed. The most flexible way to do this would be "per IR". An IR would be transformed when selected...

Ok, bought it and did a quick test run: WOW, just WOW! Loaded the AC20 IRs of the A positions, equally mixed all 3 mics and it sounds just fantastic with everything I throw at them. Tested clean, crunch and high gain, also sounded like I was standing in front of an 1x12 cab with my setup...

New Cab Pack! FAR FIELD Session 1

@ Fractal Audio Can elaborate what we get with this cab pack? There are 4 combo amps shot with a reference mic (TC30), a boundary layer mic (PCC-160) and a pressure zone mic (PZM-30D) in 7 positions (A-G). In theory this means 4 x 3 x 7 = 84 single IRs. The description says 94. Are there any...

The Mark IV and probably Triaxis models should have it on the tone page if I understand Cliff's statement correctly. The real Mark IV has got a Presence Shift on the front panel. IRs for amp-in-the-room / far field (through Studio Monitors)

I'd totally buy that pack if it turns out to be what it is supposed to. In the mean time I found those Ownhammer mid-field IRs to be a good compromise. Not as direct and more "in the room" as close-mic'ed IRs and less annoying reflections than room captures.

Wish Set Transformer Match value automatically to reflect mismatch when switching PA tubes types

IIRC Cliff has once stated that when changing the power amp (PA) tube type the virtual output transformer is also changed to match these tubes. That's something you wouldn't do on a real amp as it would require you to actually swap out the transformer. And that's the main reason why changing...

    Negative IRs

Picking up that thought, some time ago I was wondering if it would be possible to substract the influence of the mic from an IR. You would probably have to measure the characterics of the mic in the specific location to the speaker, first. Don't know if this is possible at all.

Maybe, who knows. I was just wondering. As a potential Axe FX III owner and Axe FX II user that buys IRs from time to time it would be nice to know which IRs are already included so that I don't buy them twice (once on their own and once with the Axe III).
