    New pedal board incoming

Yeah he makes some really sexy looking boards IMO. Looking through his galleries had me drooling. This is his first one hosting fractal gear that he's aware of although he hopes for many more. He made me a custom riser for the EV-1 to raise its height just a little bit (so that the lip of the...

    New pedal board incoming

New pedal board for my AX8 incoming! Man this thing looks like a beauty. It will be hosting an AX8, a Mission EP-1, Fractal EV-1, Shure GLXD16 and a tiny power strip. Spencer's work looks amazing! Can't wait to get my grubby little hands on it!

    Wireless without a pedal board?

I bought a small cable organizer box that I put a two-outlet power strip in, one outlet for the Ax8 and one for my wireless. It makes things look relatively neat and protects things from being kicked. I don't think this is the exact one I have but it's along the lines of this.

    Favorite Guitarist/Tones

Michael Schenker is one. I keep meaning to play around with that cocked-wah sound. Should be easy enough in the AX8 I'd imagine.

    Guitar GAS

If you're looking for a Tele-style I can highly recommend Ron Kirn. I got one of his Barnbuster Tele-styles and it's simply amazing. I also have one of his Strat-styles that I had built. My most recent axe is a Suhr Modern Pro HSH. OMG is the neck on that thing good. I can't imagine that will...

What Brand of strings do YOU like best ? ( include guitar type )

Wait a minute.... You mean to tell me you can buy just a pack of strings? Well, damn. Every time I've had a string break I've gone and bought a new guitar. Seriously though, D'Addario EXL110-10P Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings, Regular Light, 10-46 for the most part although I've just...

    Mission Vs MOOG Expression

Mine is a spring loaded EP-1 so I can't comment on the Aero specifically. I've also never used the Morley. That said, I've got two Missions: the spring loaded EP-1 and the SP-1 (not spring loaded). I swapped out the SP-1 for the Fractal EV-1 but the EP-1 stayed because I loved the spring loaded...

    Mission Vs MOOG Expression

Spring loaded Mission user here. I have that and the Fractal EV-1. I wanted the Mission because I wanted it to feel like my CryBaby. If that's important to you, then the Mission is an obvious choice. If not, get the cheaper pedal. If it doesn't work out for you then it's not like you invested...

AX8 on elevated vs flat pedalboard

For people who have used them, what are your experiences with mounting the AX8 on an elevated pedalboard as opposed to a flat one? I've always kept my AX8 and expression pedals on the floor but am seriously considering going the pedalboard route. I'm looking to mount the AX9, a Mission pedal, an...

    Good Case for AX8 ??

If you decide that a soft case is an option I can recommend the Fusion SA-01 W DJ B Workstation DJ Bag. I posted pics in the carry case thread. Lots of options listed there.

    NGD : Ibanez RG6PCMLTD

Sweet looking and sounding guitar! On Saturday I too just bought a guitar with stainless steel frets. a Suhr Modern Pro. Other than saying that it's probably the best neck I've ever played, not sure if I could point out if any of the smoothness in playability has anything to do with the fret...

With the news of overseas assembly...

I have difficulty understanding this. Other than my house or a car, I can't personally think of any purchases I've made with an eye towards resale, particularly something that I know will at some point be outdated at some point. But that's just me, YMMV obviously. Maybe in hindsight I should...

With the news of overseas assembly...

Out of curiosity, how does Fractal QC it's products? Are Fractal employees doing the QC? Is it a random sampling of a production run or is each unit individually QC'd when it arrives from China or wherever? I know regardless of where a product is manufactured/assembled that sometimes defects...

With the news of overseas assembly...

On one hand I'm disappointed to see this. I do make a point of buying American where I can and up until I read this I thought the Ax8 I purchased today was assembled here. The manufacturing sector is being decimated here unfortunately. On the other hand, I completely understand it from a...

    A little frustrated

I've got the same amp as well as a pair of Mick's awesome 1x12 passive Xitones. As others have suggested, adding low-cut on my own presets took care of any bassiness (is that a word?) that I was perceiving.

    Custom Patch Panels

Oh wow, that's good to hear. Not sure why I never got a response back from them then. As I said, it could have just been one of those things. I ended up going with a best-tronics but I tried to go VAFAM first. Thanks for the update.

    Custom Patch Panels

I'm not sure if VAFAM is still in business after the unfortunate death of the owner, even though the web site is still up. I had heard his children were going to try and keep the business going but a few weeks ago I had sent in a request for a quote on a custom panel and never received a...

I've got a Rane MLM 82S in my rack. I've got the 1/4" channel 1 outs of the Axe FX into the two channel 5 inputs on the mixer. Iron Maiden Concert

Love that band. Murray and Smith have always been my favorite dual guitar attack. First time I saw them was during the Somehwere in Time tour. I was bummed because I was forced to miss Seventh Son tour in 1988 due to enlisting in the military. Being finally able to see that tour when they...

Two mono 1/4" balanced TRS outs into 1/4" stereo in

After some more research I'm thinking about trying something like the Ebtech-LLS2-XLR, with two mic cables from the mixer into the XLRF connectors and then a 2 x 1/4" TS -> 1/4" TRS Y-cable with the TS ends plugged each into one of the 1/4" connectors on the Ebtech. I *think* this would work...

Two mono 1/4" balanced TRS outs into 1/4" stereo in

I actually hadn't even thought of that. That sounds like a good idea and definitely worth a try. Thanks! Unfortunately, and I didn't mention this before because I imagined the solution would be essentially the same, I need to do the same with two of the XLR outs on the X32 and take them into...

Two mono 1/4" balanced TRS outs into 1/4" stereo in

I'm trying to figure out a good (and preferably fairly cheap) way of connecting the 1/4" TRS balanced aux outs of my X32 rack mixer to the 1/4" TRS stereo aux ins on my ART HeadAmp6Pro headphone amp. So basically I'm trying to go from 2 x mono 1/4" balanced TRS outs into a single 1/4" TRS stereo...

    Gear for bedroom use

Many folks here swear by CLRs. I'm extremely happy with my XiTones and Mick's customer service can't be beat. I'd buy from him again in a heartbeat. There are many other options as well that folks have used that they're happy with. Check out the Amps & Cabs section of the forum.
  38. J

    Gear for bedroom use

Personal preference really. Some folks like a single powered speaker to reduce the amount of gear they have to carry. All you really need then is the Axe FX and the powered speaker. Take one of the outs of your Axe and plug it into the speaker and you're good to go. I feel the separate power...

    Gear for bedroom use

The Axe FX is a pre-amp so typically you're going to take the outs of that and feed them into a power amp or a mixer (or both if you want). Depending on your current amp you might be able to run the out of the Axe FX into the power section of your amp. Since the Axe excels at cab modeling, many...

    Custom patch panel

I did finally get a response from best-tronics. Brad from best-tronics has been very helpful and I'm pulling the trigger on one of their panels. It's still helpful to know what options are out there. It doesn't seem like there are a ton of them.

I was wondering what companies folks have had good experiences with in ordering custom patch panels for their Axe rigs? Clr vs xitone

I own a pair of 1x12 passive XiTone wedges running through a GT1000FX. I can't compare them with the CLR. I tried to order one at the end of last year and was unsuccessful in trying to do so. That being the case I went with the XiTones and am extremely happy with them. I play classic rock for...

I can't compare to the others, which I'm sure are also excellent, but I've got a pair of 12" passive XiTones that I love. As someone else here mentioned, they are built for durability. Naturally they sound awesome. Mine have the midi-switchable FRFR bypass but I haven't had the opportunity to...

    FRFR SOLUTION (opinions?)

The takeaway from these kind of topics is that that there are now several stellar FRFR options now available. That's a good thing for all of us and there's no need to limit oneself to only one or two options.

    FRFR SOLUTION (opinions?)

There are other options as well if you are open to them. Talk to Mic from XiTone. Atomic Amps and Communication

FRFR CABs VS Traditional Cab music capability.

I'm sure Mic will give the straight scoop but the set I have a single speaker jack and a switch to change the mode. Mine also have midi connectors and another box called a switch gizmo that allow the Axe to switch the speaker modes via midi. That being the case I could for example have a preset...
