    MFC-101 mk1 and mk2 upgrade question

Is it possible to fit the Mk 3 button boards into a mk1 or mk2 to give it similar functionality to the mk3? The function I am interested in is having the IAs/Scene switches on the front row?

Converting the masses: The Great British Guitar Show 2014

I volunteered to organise the stand for a UK guitar forum at the GBGS 14 and it is one of the best things that I have done. Clarky managed to make it down for Saturday, which cost me coffee and donuts (a small fee), to demo his AF2-Matrix-Marshall rig. As you can guess this drew in a crowd. A...

Great British Guitar Show 1st and 2nd March 2014

The Great British Guitar Show 2014 is going to be at Bingley Hall in Birmingham (yes, that Birmingham, the birthplace of Black Sabbath, Slade, Judas Priest and Duran Duran!). I'll be manning the stand for TheFretBoard.co.uk forum. Here is the great bit of news: On Saturday 1st March, our...

I bet I can't get a great answer to this one, but here goes.

Why can't the front row buttons of the MFC-101 be IA switches, ( eg SCENES is a useful on, as is Tap tempo.), and have the Preset switching further away from the user? I use scene changes more often than preset changes. MFCs are supposed to make life easier. Why should the user have to risk...

Tony Iommi - Mob Rules - Tone match attempt

I've never really seriously tried the tone match thing so please be patient if this sounds a bit grim. I used a tube-pre into a Friedman. I'll post the TM later. Any pointers gratefully appreciated.

    Axe-FX II = Extra Income

I've just come back from a studio where I showed the head honcho my AF2 and what it can do straight into the desk. As a result he was that impressed with the speed of set up and quality of guitar sound that I have been offered part time work assisting the engineer with the guitar recording...

Another big thank you to G66.

Imagine the look on my face today when at a studio my AF2 did not boot up. Screen lights up, LEDs light up, world stops. I rang it through to Sussi at G66 and she has got an EPROM on route to me as I write this. I have had a couple of mishaps with my rig this year, one involving white wine...

MFC-101 Modification: Making the best MIDI Controller in the world even better

I was pottering about with my rig the other day and blooming annoyed with the fact that, in AF2 mode, the MFC has to have the scene switches behind the the preset switches. I know I can use the reveal button, but I am really lazy, so I do not want to do that. I found a pic of the guts of the...

On the day that I install 10.

I get my cabs out and rack out, and put them on the table. Fire up the Axe and the MacBook and install 10 with Fractal-Bot, delightfully easy by the way, thank you. Turned on my Matrix GT1500FXBD and plugged in the cabs. Had a potter about with AE1.9b, working well for me; once again, thank...

Axe-Fest UK 2013: Who wants to do it again?

I mean shall we do Axe Fest UK again, not Axe-Fest UK 2013. Just doing a quick feasibility study (since last year I've become qualified in project management) to see how far we can go with this. After last years enjoyable romp, its intend to have something bigger and even better. Who's in?

    I want to run Slave a KT88 power stage with a AC30 Pre-amp.

Am I mad, and can it be easily done? I'm after the effect of using an AC30 to slave a KT88 based power amp, maybe from a Fryette D60. I am obviously trying a scientific experiment to see if I can capture someone's sound.

A bit of constructive criticism please.

Hi everyone in FAS Land. I was wondering if you can give me a bit of helpful feedback on the sound clip. I'm just after setting up a clean sound and I'd like to know what you guys think of the sound. BTW it was recorded on a Yamaha Pocketrak W24 as I'm trying to capture the sound of the rig...

    This is happening, MFC editor!

Right I don't know how successful l'm going to be, but I am going to build an MFC editor. I think that I can do it before FAS, because, as someone said to me "You could have built one in that time". I'd been waiting over 400 days at that point, and as I'm British, I love a challenge...
