It allows you to use the Axe-fx simultaneously with other WDM devices like you can using aggregate devices on a Mac.

Sweet Holy Shit Balls!! It works great! Now I can use my US800 interface and the Axe II at the same time (meaning easy recording second clean track for reamping later). Just set it up in Sonar X3 and it works a charm so far.

Awesome job FAS! Thank you!!!!

Wow, this is great, I also use Sonar X3, reamping now more free?

Well, before with ASIO you had to choose either the Axe or the interface as the soundcard. If it was the Axe, you could easily reamp because you could record the wet track (output 1/2) and a clean track for reamp (output 3/4). But that was it, you couldn't have any input through the other interface. If you chose the other input for mic's, vocals etc, you could only run spdif or analog output from Axe which is output 1/2 only. Now with WDM drivers you can select output 1/2 AND output 3/4 from the axe AND any source from your interface at the same time as input source for your recording tracks. Very cool.

Wait!??!?! What?!??!?! Do my eyes deceive me?!?!!? WDM Drivers!??!?!!? I had lost all hope when my thread had been closed a couple weeks ago. Then I leave the forum for a couple days and come back to this awesomeness?!??!?? Definitely looking forward to trying this out tomorrow night!!!! (Have a gig tonight). Thank you to Cliff and crew for all your hard work!

Not sure if I mentioned this in the past but... my grandparents whom passed away over 10 years ago had a fruiteria in their small town in Mexico. They had the most popular fruit stand in their town. Their slogan was 'Al pasito pero llega'. Which translates to 'A little slow but it gets there'. But with the language 'barrier' it basically translates to 'it's worth the wait' especially when said with 'gusto'.

Either way... thanks a bunch!

The old driver (driver pre this Beta) gave me a problem, on one of my computers. That computer (Win7 x64) always stopped with a timing error when I tried to use Fractal Bot to do a complete backup. The backup always aborted after Bank A was completed and starting Bank B. I checked a few easy things but never pursued it as I just used my other PC to back up my Axe-FX.

I put this beta driver on the pc with Fractal-Bot issues and it now works without issue.

Thanks everybody at Fractal.

I can't get the installation to work. I uninstalled all the files as stated in the readme. Then I ran the new driver installer, which simply re-installed driver version 1.67.00. No matter how many times I uninstall 1.67.00, it just keeps popping up again, and 2.23.0 never installs. I manually updated the driver and told windows to look in the folder containing the 2.23.0 driver, but the driver doesn't work.

I'm using Windows 8.1 64-bit. I uninstalled and reinstalled everything multiple times and rebooted over and over, no success. Any suggestions?

Ok. So I went through each error associated with the Axe-Fx in my Device Manager, and then manually updated the driver by selecting the C:\Program Files\Fractal Audio Systems\Fractal Audio Systems USB Driver Package 2014.06.06\Driver folder. That finally got the driver to install. The Axe-Fx is successfully communicating with my computer and Axe-Edit. Yay!

However, I still can't get the control panel for the driver to appear. I know it should show up in the notifications area on the bottom right if I were to click on the "^" button, but the driver control panel isn't there. Any ideas? Thanks!

Uhm... First disable your antivirus temporaly while you uninstall the old version and install the new one. (in windows 8 it's Windows Defender by default if you didn't install any third party antivirus)
Turn off the Axe-Fx II (important) while you uninstall the drivers and uninstall everything again (Axe-Fx II Driver v1.67.0, Axe-Fx II USB Driver Installer 1.67 or 1.68, Windows Driver Package - Fractal Audio Systems (axefx2load) USB). Double check that you don't miss any of those.

After that clean the registry with ccleaner to wipe all traces of the old drivers. That shouldn't be necessary but as you had troubles installing, I would clean the registry.
Finally (and with the antivirus still disabled) Right Click on the new driver and "Run as Administrator" to install it. That's important if you have UAC on by default.

Keep the Axe-Fx II plugged to the computer but NOT on. During the first steps of the installation it may pop up a windows similar to this:
win7_unverified_publisher.jpg
Click on "Install this driver software anyway"

Remember that during the installation a pop-up may appear saying something similar that an error ocurred while trying to install the driver. Ignore it.
Last, turn the Axe-FX ON when the installer prompts it and click next.

Enable your antivirus again.

Hope that helps.

I'll give all that a try later on this weekend. I'm playing a music festival in Maryland tomorrow and I already have my Axe Fx packed up. I appreciate your help and will let you know if it works out!

it wasn't deleted it was locked because of incessant bumping :).
it is now unlocked .

(This has nothing to do with OS X, where the driver is provided by Apple via the OS.)

This has something to do with Windows which is still not USB Audio Class 2.0 compliant....... ;) not even on WIN8 ....and with Fractal Audio who can't provide a true core audio driver - which is far superior to class compliant audio in any ways. But who cares.....
