X/Y state question - displaying IA function on screen

I've been working through getting my MFC101 setup and it's great!

I've noticed though that if you have an effect bypassed, the LED is RED. When you engage the effect, the LED turns GREEN and the function is displayed e.g. "DRIVE 1"
When you turn OFF the effect, nothing is displayed, only the LED changes colour.

What I've noticed though is that with X/Y states, because it defaults to GREEN as the 'X' state, when you toggle the switch, it does not say anything.
It only displays the function when you toggle back to the X state. e.g:
- Load preset - LED is GREEN as effect is in 'X' state
- Toggle effect state - Changes to 'Y' with RED LED - nothing displayed
- Toggle effect state - Changes back to 'X' with GREEN LED, but this time with "AMPX/Y" displayed - which I believe happens because you are effectively performing an 'OFF-ON' changeover.

Is the only way around this to use 'Y' as the default state?

It is not so much the colours that bothers me, but more the fact that I want to see the text on the display

Or is their a setting to make it show the text on any button press, not just an "OFF->ON" toggle?

I've read the manual and only seen it talk about X/Y states and the LED colours.
