Will Axe-Fx 2 patches work in an AX8?

I'm not seeing this answered anywhere in this forum.

I read that FracTool can convert Ax8 patches to Axe Fx 2, but can it convert the other way?

Also, hypothetically lets say a patch is made on 6.0 firmware, if an Ax8 has 10.0 firmware will that 6.0 patch no longer work on that Ax8?

Yes we can

But impossible blocks will be removed.
Old firmware made presets will sound different than expected once loaded on a newer firmware

Thank you Al!

What would be an example of an impossible block?

It sounds useless to use presets from old firmware if they will sound different. That's a shame.

If I'm understanding this correctly, I can download the patches at the following link (made for Axe Fx 2), but I can't just load them into Ax8 Edit? I need to first use FracTool to convert them? And will the versions in older firmware (back to 6.0) work too?

FracTool will send them to your AX8 too, dropping forbidden blocks like AMP2/CAB2 etc...
For better conversion results, both source preset and destination machines should use the same firmware version, of course

I had very good success with FracTool when I transitioned to my AX8 from the Axe - Fx II. The AX8 tones matched up well with the originals. I don't think i was using any "forbidden" features, though. Excellent product IMO!

Make sure to export all TM blocks into cab blocks on the AxeFX2 or else they will be lost. If you're using TM and cab blocks in the same preset use cab lab to mix them into a single IR.
