We basically said the same thing. The FM3 would suit his current needs. There's a lot you can do with it. The FM9 can do everything the FM3 does and more. Having dual amps and high resolution effects is definitely nice As is having more foot switches. It also offers more I/O. If the OP isn't interested in the extra benefits then save the money. The FM3 is still extremely capable.
