Why 512 Presets?

Banks are 128 presets in size. Which is a power-of-two, yes. But more preset banks could be added 128 presets at a time.
Possibly 768 but 1024 would be the next logical choice following memory addressing. All I’m saying is Cliff is a programmer and 512 is not an arbitrary number.

I definitely would have preferred to keep 768 presets, but I can do with 512.

And I won't let anyone tell me that I should do with less. :)

There are many reasons why having a lot of preset slots is useful.
Absolutely. 768 would be great, 1024 even better
 
I had all 768 presets filled by the time I sold my XL+

But it's early yet. The number got bumped up on the II after a while.
