Where to start with a Nuno Porno Tone?

So at the moment I'm just trying to get the basic amp sound and nothing is sounding right. I figured the Brit Pre was a good place to start for the ADA MP1, with the 1960A G12M, and a Rat at the front (gain down, level up).

From here on in I just seem to keep making everything worse..... Any tips?

Nunos tone always has been and always will be in his hands.
Doesn't matter what he plays through, it sounds like him.
I know that doesn't help.

The Cameron CCV can get really close to that era of ADA tones; the JMP-1 is a smoother sounding unit than the ADA and doesn't quite have that 80's hair that the Cameron does.

CCV 2D with factory cab 60, stock settings except for the presence (bring it up to taste) and a Rat with the gain around 2 in front gets pretty close to my ears.

@2112 that's great advice man, I'll give it a go for sure. I think I was trying to parametric EQ and stuff before I'd really just sat down with the absolute basics.

I'll give this a go, and really work with bare bones first. Always a learning curve!

@Rex that's a very good point actually. It'll only be for playing at home, but I completely get what you mean. I think it feels boxy to play, if that makes sense?

Lol That boxy feel starts to feel alive and responsive in a mix. But you're playing at home, so...

...if it feels or sounds too boxy, find an IR that suits you better. Flip through them. There will be at least one that gets you close to the sound in your head. When you find the right one, things will go much better.

There's a preset on AxChange that sounded very Pornograffiti esque, when I'm on my Mac I'll upload it
