What's the weirdest guitar you own?

@unix-guy:
Dana Scoop?
Dude. That is awesome. I always loved the idea of the Scoop.

I wonder, though, if I might not like the thought of it more than the reality of playing it? Partly because I'm a sucker for the sound of neck single-coils...and, well, obviously that's out-of-the-picture!

But also...it seems like a missed opportunity that it doesn't have 24 frets. Seems like there's enough wood past the middle pickup that it could have done.

Not really weird but AFAIK extremely rare: a Gibson CS Peter Frampton LP Special (3 P90s). It has a pilot run serial number, I don’t know if it ever went into regular production at all.
they were a limited run! they are rare. they were a lot of trouble to make.

My clone of a Roland G-707 synth guitar.

I like it a lot but I understand why Roland abandoned this shape and format for more traditional looking synth guitars. The stabilizer bar gives it a odd feeling, kinda interferes visually with your playing, but It reallt feels weird for your right arm not to be able to rest on the guitar body.

Oh cool, can that pickup be turned to any angle? Is it a lot of work?
The pickup can be turned to any angle easily. There is a hex head bolt recessed in the back that can be loosened to allow the pickup to move. Once you have the pickup where you want it you can tighten the bolt and it will stay locked in the position you put it.

Not mine... Just a response to the reply about a deeper cutaway.

Personally, I would worry about sustain/resonance issues plus I think it's pretty fugly! :D
Eh, OK. Tastes vary. I wouldn't want to play it all the time; but I like the over-the-top, unapologetic 80's-ness of it.

(It would, I admit, be even more so if it were hot pink instead of red. But I...I just can't play hot pink guitars. Sort of a mental block.)

In terms of configuration, the farthest from "conventional"?

For me it's probably a no-name custom build that is parts PRS, Gibson and ESP. It sounds like a Les Paul though, which is what I want and expect from it. Debating trying HB sized P90s in it to try and tame some low end (massive sub-200hZ boost). I realize this is not super unconventional but it's my weirdest one!

I'll snap a pic tomorrow.

What's your oddball?

I hacked up full body to make it more compact and routed out a spot for the Fishman TriplePlay and used some leftover parts to get the electronics and pickups etc

My 16-year-old self is responsible for this... creation. The body was routed out of old bullet resistant Lexan from a bank teller line. Neck is from an Ibanez RG. 310B4538-3C50-4405-B411-331B02CBB542.jpeg

Here is another weird one, a 4 string Titan (Kauer). They are usually tuned like a mandolin or uke but mine is tuned like a guitar (EADG). It’s an octave up and a blast to play.
