We just had a customer send in his unit because it was no longer working. We opened it up and somebody had snapped all the voltage regulators off the board.

Ha...this is why I cover up the 'Fractal Audio' on my equipment. My wife knows who that is because she fumes at the receipts with Fractal on them. This story doesn't shock me......

"Snapped" as in disconnected the terminals or literally bent the solder pins back and forth like a 5-year old intentionally breaking something? I'm as curious as the rest of us behind this story.

And just to be clear that's not covered under warranty?

Yes, the old rock the part back and forth until the pins fatigue and break technique. Several capacitors too. And the parts were not inside. So somebody opened it up, broke the parts off and then put the cover back on.
