The VP4 V4.00 Public Beta 2 Release is now available:

NEW EFFECT TYPES​

  • NEW Drive Pedal types!
  • PI Fuzz Bass — based on a Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi.
  • NoAmp Bass DI — based on a SansAmp™ BassDriver™ DI.
  • NoAmp Bass Pre — SansAmp™ BassDriver™ DI with speaker emulation bypassed
  • Royal Bass DI — based on a Noble Bass Preamp DI (with more gain and adjustable Low Cut
  • NEW Graphic EQ types
  • 7 Band Pedal — based on a Boss GE-7
  • 7 Band Bass Pedal — based on a Boss GE-7B

PITCH DETECTOR UPDATES​

  • Added Tracking Mode parameter to Synth and Ring Mod blocks. When set to “BASS” the pitch tracking range is shifted down one octave with the lowest detectable note being approximately F♯0.
  • Enhanced pitch detection to track higher notes (approximately F♯6).

ADDITIONAL UPDATES​

  • Lowered CPU usage for all presets!
  • Tuned the filtering of expression pedals to allow faster response.
  • Remastered the Blackglass 7k drive pedal model.

FIXES​

  • USB Audio fix for macOS. The VP4 should now perform reliably in all cases.
  • Modifier “dot” now updates correctly in all cases.
  • Fixed Learn mode not working for External 2, 3, 4.
  • Corrected the Input Gate to show “Release” instead of “Ratio”. (Ratio is available in Expert Edit.)
  • Fixed a bug that could cause problems while saving if you changed presets WHILE the Overwrite? Prompt was displayed on screen.
  • Fixed a rare case where the “Modern Gate” gate type could get stuck.
  • Additional small fixes.

I noticed that the Tracking Mode box is in the margin for the Synth block but in the main parameter pane for the Ring Mod block. I'd prefer they were consistent.
 
I've been using the VP4 for bass, so this update definitely made my day!

Installed the beta this am without any issues and I ran through our set quickly, swapping/adding some of the new bass-specific components, and I must say that thus far it is highly transformative for me. The model of the Noble is truly behaving like the real thing (I use it towards the end of my chain, just before an Optical Comp (in the VP4 as well) and a DI.

The Bass Pi Fuzz is also very usable without any major tweaks from default settings..

And finally, the bass-specific tracking makes using the filter block a lot better with my 5-string. I have 3 use-case, virtual capo, Octave and to simulate an organ sound (I do the organ solo on bass for a few Beatles song we play!).

So overall great update and did not run into any problems with the beta.

I installed beta version 4 yesterday. CPU load dropped by about 30%, but the type name and the list of effects by category in VP4-Edit (in the lower left corner) stopped displaying.
