Volume Swells

I'm learning the La Villa Strangiato solo which has a bunch of quick volume swells at the beginning of it.
I have never really done a whole lot using the volume knob technique.
As I'm trying to do it, I'm finding it hard to not have other strings ring out.
Anyone have any suggestions for a good technique to make it sound good?
Seems like the more I do a strong hammer on of the notes, that helps a little - but man I'm struggling !

its right at the 45 second mark on your video - this person isn't attempting to do them at all though.

looking at Alex do it ( first 40 seconds or so), it looks like he's probably using a volume pedal.. but its seems fast to me to do it with my feet...

that's really not too fast. if you've wah'd before, it's about the same. i see more trouble trying to do that with a knob on the guitar.

The way to keep other strings from ringing out is to mute them. If you use a pedal, both hands are free to mute.
