Vocoder: the least used effect block?

Do you use the Vocoder block? (for Axe-Fx III users)

I tried to use it before (I have a dedicated vocoder pedal as well), but couldn’t get it to work correctly without an external preamp, which kind of defeats the purpose for me.

The preamp is not required. Just beef up the mic level on the grid.
 
I used it on a synth preset I built last Hallowe'en or thereabouts, to make nightmare fuel noises.

No, wait, that was the formant block.

Nevermind....
 
I voted no because as of yet i've yet to have need for it. I do look forward to utilizing it however.

I did set it up to try out with the Axefx II and fool around. I did not need to use a mic pre.

Maybe I will try again then. First time I didn't really got it to work properly - only a faintly vocodered signal. Thought it was because I used a non-preamped mic signal where line level is required.
