Using both rear and front inputs?

Hey everyone.

Im trying to hook my Ultra up to a patchbay here in the studio, and it seems if I plug cables into the rear inputs, they cancel out the front input, even though I have the IO set to listen to the front inputs now? Is this normal? Is there a way around this?

Thanks,
Michael

Unfortunately, that's intentional (by design).

Page 11 of the Axe-Fx ULTRA user manual includes the following text:

Rear Panel

1. Input1 - Connect line-level input sources to these jacks. If using the Axe-Fx as an effects processor use these jacks and be sure to set the INPUT SOURCE to ANALOG REAR in the I/O menu.

NOTE: The front panel INSTR input is defeated whenever a plug is inserted into this input
.

Sorry! :(

Boo hiss.... Thats a real bummer for my situation, but it is what it is i guess.

Thanks for the reply!

Now, just thinking here... I could use the effects loop input as line ins for reamping, correct? Line in from the effects loop to an amp block, normal outputs?

That should work. Keep in mind that the FX Return inputs are unbalanced only, so keep those cable runs short.
