USB Issue

So all of the sudden Axe Edit couldn't connect to the Axe Fx III. I tried everything from changing the usb cable, turning the Mac and Axe Fx III off and unplugging the power cords and putting it back with no luck. So I'm pretty sure it's the axe fx III's USB port that's the culprit. Already contacted support and they want me to send the Axe FX III back for repair. Before I do that, just wanna ask if this ever happen to some of u guys before, and what did u do if u got it working back?
Unfortunately I got the same problem too. The electronics specialist checked my AxeFx III and his verdict is : the chip U11680C20 is dead. And since I live very far outside the USA and I cannot send my Fractal for repair because no Fractal distributors around 3000km. There is only one way for me: to find the same chip somewhere(I don’t know where) and replace it myself. And this makes me very sad (((

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll find the part and swap it yourself.

Mine was sent to Fractal and they received it on 7/30/2021. I haven't received anything from them yet. No email.. No nothing... Not even a confirmation that they received it. WTF?

They checked it out the next day and emailed me stating that it appears the USB chip has gone bad. They said they have to send the board to a third party for the chip replacement. 6-8 weeks for this process to be completed. They told me it would cost $40 fractal bench fee and $50 for the third party chip replacement. So far it cost me $75 to ship it to them and now another $90 for the repair. I have a feeling they are going to also hit me up for the return shipping cost but they haven't said anything about that yet. So now I am patiently waiting for the repair process to complete.

Is your unit out of warranty? That seems like some BS right there. USB chip failure isnt very common thing in the PC/component world unless they used cheap chips or the supplier had a run of bad chips. Was told we are a rare incident Don't we feel lucky=D

My unit was out of warranty for about 2 months when the issue occurred.

One person's repair estimate isn't necessarily a good indication of what another's will be.

For example: "My USB stopped working, there is a bad solder joint" is massively different from "My USB stopped working after my building was struck by lightning"
It was the neigbor's roof. 15 feet away from my office/studio. Sheesh! :D

Just received an email stating that my AxeFX III has been repaired. That was a lot quicker then I thought it would be. $139 for the repair and to have it shipped back to me.
I received an email today as well, notifying me that repairs had been completed on my Axe-Fx 3 and it is ready to be returned. :)

Got it back today. The ups driver just left it on the porch even though it says signature required.

Anyway, usb port seems to be working fine now!
Glad to hear that, and My UPS Driver left mine at the neighbors house, and it was addressed correctly, wish FAS would use FedEx, way better drivers
