USB 3,4 recording source on loopback latency test.

While setting up a loopback test to measure latency, I discovered something unexpectedI .

I sent a click track from the DAW on usb 1,2.

I patched from the headphone output back into input 2 with one side of a stereo cable.

I setup blocks Input 2 -->Output2 on the grid.

I received the click track in the DAW when usb 3,4 record were set to Input 2 (as expected) but nothing when usb 3,4 record were set to Output 2.

I would appreciate any help understanding this.

I believe that playback option is mutually exclusive with the use of the out 2 block.
