I am from belgium. We are in lockdown and trust me in Europe it is heavy. Stay home as much as possible. Whatever your president may say this is something really scary. I hope you health system works well because in Italy and spain hospitals can’t follow. They have about 500 casualties every day. You guys in the us are about 10 days behind us abd your social security system is weaker than ours. So stay strong stay safe, wash your hands continuously, avoid contact with other people and stay home!! Good luck !

Oregon governor this morning issued: stay at home (in effect until rescinded) plus closing non-essential businesses.

Oregon Executive Order: Stay Home Except for Essential Needs

On March 23, Governor Brown issued Executive Order 20-12, effective immediately until further notice. This is a statewide order. Failure to comply with the order will be considered an immediate danger to public health. For more information, see Executive Order 20-12

In short, here is what is allowed and what is not. If you’re not sure about an activity, skip it. Staying at home as much as possible during this time will save lives.

Allowed (must keep 6 feet from others):

  • Hospitals and health care
  • Grocery stores
  • Banks
  • Pharmacies
  • Take-out/delivery from restaurants and bars
  • Pet stores
  • Gas stations
  • Certain retail stores
  • Outdoor activities like walking your dog, jogging, or biking in your neighborhood
  • Child care facilities and babysitters (only if abiding by new rules)
Not Allowed:
  • Social gatherings (parties, celebrations) with people from outside of your household
  • Dine-in restaurants and bars
  • Nightclubs and concerts
  • Shopping at outdoor or indoor malls and retail complexes
  • Fitness: Gyms, sports and fitness centers, health clubs, and exercise studios, dance and yoga studios
  • Grooming: Hair salons, barbershops, nail salons, massage parlors, non-medical wellness spas, cosmetic stores, tattoo parlors
  • Entertainment: Theaters, amusement parks, arcades, bowling alleys, music concerts, sporting events, museums, skating rinks
  • Outdoors: State parks, playgrounds, campgrounds, pools, skate parks, festivals

Germany: Taking it seriously (and I'm glad they do)

  • Any gathering of more than 2 persons is generally prohibited.
  • Minimum distance in public: 1,50 meters (~5 feet). Exception, families and those living in a common household.
  • E.g. barbershops are closed.
  • Individual sports and exercise (alone) is still permitted.

Fines for being outside without reason up to €25000 or jail.
Someone twittered to police that's about 5000 Döner Kebabs with extra meat and he'd rather stay at home. Police twittered back he was still allowed to buy a Döner Kebab.

Stay at home order except for essential needs starts tonight at midnight for all of Kansas City, MO, and Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas.

Things are moving very fast today.
List of USA states has more than doubled just this morning. As of 1pm Monday March 23:
  • 16 USA states either closing or limiting non-essential businesses and ordering or advising shelter in place
  • 5 additional states with individual cities doing the above
States are dropping like dominoes same as they did last week with bar & restaurant closings.

Australia -
Not very consistent across the states but getting serious.
Most states are closing schools today
Non essential businesses (no definition of what’s essential yet) ordered to close
Social gatherings limited in number.
Social distancing recommended
People are still using busses & trains
I’m researching ventilators and how to make one.

thanks
Pauly

New Mexico (which is a US state, contrary to what some may believe) issued "Stay at Home" orders today, effectively shutting down all non-essential businesses and services. The list of "essential" places is pretty lengthy, but it seems well thought out. Time will tell how closely people here will adhere to the orders and how things will be enforced. A certain segment of the population here seems to think they can just continue as usual, since this is "only the flu". (And that includes some friends who I didn't realize were as ignorant as they are.)

I’d like to visit there as soon as I get my passport renewed. 😛

Stay at Home Order for all Hawaiian Islands, except essential workers. But you can still exercise which includes surfing and swimming. People are picketing the airports with "Tourists Go Home". signs.

They coned off the parking lots of some Parks but not others. I think they left open the Hawaiian religious sites.

They just reopened the bathrooms at the State Parks in Honolulu because of the homeless. The parks are closed but the bathrooms are open and if you go there you are gonna get something bad.

On Sunday, March 22th, under the direction of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, M.D., MPH issued a director’s order to require all Ohioans to stay in their homes to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 beginning at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Monday, March 23, 2020 until 11:59 p.m. on April 6, 2020. This order prohibits holding gatherings of any size and closes all nonessential businesses. It does NOT prohibit essential activities like going to the grocery store, receiving medical care, or taking your pet for a walk. Residents can return home from out of state and can leave the state.
