Taking a few steps away from the speaker is probably much easier than disconnecting a tweeter.

Sure, but some cabs have a switch/knob to turn down the tweeter. At least bass cabs. Not sure if some FRFR cabs have that though.

If the goal is FRFR, there shouldn't be one. With FRFR, what goes in goes out, so the input device is in control.

Or rotating a bit, or quickly turning down that pickup, or glaring at the other guitarist or yelling at the FOH person.
