Unity gain with 4 Cable Method?

Anyone have a solution for getting a good stage volume with a tube amp with a master volume as your main "heavy" tone without, messing with the output volumes of all your Axe Fx clean preamps?

Or sometimes practicing at home I want the master volume down... just cause it's too loud but, then the Axe Fx cleans are way too loud.

Using 100 watt tube heads with series effects loops.

I'm thinking I would need a line mixer maybe?

thanks

What amp are you using?

Some amps that might seem to have master volumes don’t actually have true master volumes. Instead, the power section is always locked to 100% output, and the volume knobs are actually just preamp channel volumes placed before the effects loop in the circuit, that can be adjusted to send more or less signal to an always fully-wide-open power section. This is how the 5150 III is designed, for example.

If we know what amp you’re using, we might be able to figure out a solution for you easier.

A newer Marshall JCM 800 for this set up so far.

I also have an old Friedman Naked amp and a Mesa Tremoverb. I haven't messed with this method yet.
