Wish Unit goes to blank preset during back up

I discovered today that while backing up your system, if on a blank preset, it works 50x faster.

Please make this a default.

Yep, well known "tip" for many but not universally known in the community.

It's probably technically possible but not by loading from an "empty preset slot" because there might not be any available!

The challenge is that the current preset is active and "running." To do what you are asking means "saving" the current preset in a temp location, clearing the active preset, then reloading the orig preset exactly after backup is done. Its edited state would also need to be restored as if this swap never happened.

Another option is for Fractal-Bot to suggest user to move to an empty preset slot if they wish to speed up backup.

How much faster seems to be dependent on how much CPU the current preset is using... 50x seems like maybe a bit of an exaggerated number?

Or maybe the Axe could just shut down all audio processing while a backup or restore is running.

You are correct. My initial back up took 2:27, my next one took 4 minutes, so that’s only 37.5 times faster.

2 hours 27 minutes is a lot longer than the 4.5 or so minutes tops that it should take.

Agreed... That is definitely outside the bounds of "normal".
