Thinking about picking up a Ukulele or possibly a mandolin for acoustic shows. Any recommendations? I think electric capabilities are a must for plugging into the PA...

Get a Cavaquinho. It can be tuned like an Uke, but sounds nicer with its steel strings. And if you're flirting with the idea of a mandolin, it's not far off - tone wise.

Wow, never heard of those. Maybe that would be a better option. Not sure if i like the steel string sound as much though. The Nylon has a certain vibe to it...

there are some other hawaiian koa all-wood ones with pickup here too, but you're in the $1200+ range on those.
