Tone help ... AGAIN!

Back again with my endless questions ... this time NOT about Djent tones, I seem to have mastered those!

One of the best guitar tones I've ever heard in a mix, imo, is P.O.D.s "Alive". I'm struggling to replicate something as smooth, beefy, high gain but not brittle as the tone on that song but can't quite seem to get it. Seems any IR I use is too woofy or trebly. Any pointers?

Keep in mind I own all Ownhammer High Gain Mesa, Cab Pack 3 and Cab Pack 7 IRs.

Yeah, keep in mind the tone you hear in a mixed song is going to probably contain many tracks, possibly using multiple amps and cabs.

If you try and get it exactly, you're probably going to drive yourself mad. Here's a saying that I heard a friend use while tuning his guitar before a gig many years ago.

"Close enough for Rock n' Roll!"

Eh, "close enough" would be good enough for me if I was even nearly close ... I can get a high gain tone out of the Axe FX as "smooth" as that, especially from the Rectos. Am I missing something here?
