To sub or not to sub?

Hi everybody! Just bought a Axe-Fx II after previously owning an AX8. I play only at home through a pair of Presonus Eris E8 studio monitors. Question is should I invest in a subwoofer to complete the setup or is that just a waste for guitar? The vast majority of what I play and listen through with the monitors is Metal. Some favorite bands are Dream Theater, Allegaeon, Nevermore, Opeth, Megadeth, Metallica, etc. I would purchase either the 10 inch Presonus Tembler or the 8 inch version. Thanks in advance.

Subs are fun. Most likely you will get more mud and mess if your room doesn't have acoustic treatment. For accuracy, no. For fun, yes.

Guitar doesn’t/shouldn’t produce anything that’s intended for a subwoofer.

That said, if you don’t play just the guitar but also play along some mix with a kick and a bass - why not.

As said above, it could be fun. Not necessary, but fun.
