Tips for high end "width"

Since we've just had a discussion about eliminating ice pick highs, I figured I'd ask how to get the highs more filling and widespread (in lack of a better explanation). I sometimes feel they sound pretty thin. I think the amp's depth control may help, but then the low end is very affected as well. I'm using the USA LEAD and IIC+ amps, and to me it sounds like the IIC+ has a fuller high end, but I don't know. Also, as I'm using headphones I'm afraid that can be the whole issue. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

That sounds like you are missing mid's in your sound to me ?

I usually have the mid control at 5.00-7.50 and just a slight cut at 750 with a peq like -1 or 2 db. Maybe I should try to boost the mids before the amp?

You could do that. I think around 200 hz? (I am not the expert to ask on this... But if I am completely off they'll hopefully chime in :) )

I think it should be possible in how you dial in the amp/which cab you use etc.

What sort of tones are you trying to create?
