Tinnitus article

That totally makes sense! I wonder if the music therapy causes hearing loss on the frequency of the tinnitus since it's weakening your response to that frequency. Also, I wonder if after the feedback loop is broken, if you can re-build that portion with a new connection without the tinnitus.
 
I hope they figure this out eventually. After listening to my walkman cranked to 11 as a teen, I now have this persistent, very high frequency ringing in my ears. It's not always there, it's faint, and the frequency is so high it's almost inaudible, but it's annoying nevertheless. I'm now much more careful about the volume levels, though. I once even didn't go to a show because I forgot my ear plugs. Why do bands insist on cranking the volume to the point where everyone's ears are so overloaded they can't hear the music anymore?
