Ticketmaster may very well be satan in business form.

Ticketmonsters platinum pricing is ridiculous too. Prices fluctuate and shoot super high. Even with presales it’s difficult to get tickets to shows with their queue process.
 
Looks like they've "cornered the market". The dream of most large scale businesses, monopoly allows them to set prices and policies around their product which are extremely favorable to them, and unfavorable to the customer.

There are regulations sitting on a shelf somewhere collecting dust that could help, but the gov't has pretty much been bought, lock, stock, and barrel, by corporations. They broke up Ma Bell, if you remember....
 
Or when Ticketmaster becomes the ticket scalper. I was watching the news other day about Ticketmaster's 'dynamic pricing'. An algorithm that works in real time to determine supply and demand. Bruce Springsteen tickets , recently, were reported to go up as high as $5000
 
I really have a hard time wrapping my head around what kind of band would want to bait and switch another bands fans and not offer a refund in this situation? How in the hell can anyone say the scorpions are acting with any kind of class or integrity in this instance? If an opener bows out who is relatively unknown that’s one thing, but whitesnake is at least an equal if not a better draw at least in the states.
Looking into this they screwed people back in 2020, the exact same bill. People bitching they couldn’t get money back and didn’t get VIP items they were promised. What a mess.

I’m not so sure about that. Ticketmaster says they’re powerless to issue a refund unless the event organizer authorizes refunds. Granted, their policy sucks but I think both scorpions management as well as the venue share in the blame. How much is up for debate and I agree to not fully understanding the sleazy workings of it all.

Maybe I’ll do the same or at the very least hold out for last minute tickets to assure the act will actually be there.

That ticket/travel insurance you can purchase at point of sale is DEFINITELY worth it these days. When
you consider you are going to see Great-Grandad sing, anything can, and probably will happen.

Just looked at one of the plans linked to TM. Not really sure if I’d be covered. They cover cancellations and instances you can’t make it like illness or travel disruptions.
This situation gets hairy because the event has not been cancelled. A (major and arguably bigger) band pulled out but the event is still scheduled, albeit at half the value to ticket holders. I’d love to know what happens now. Does WS still get paid? They really should. Do the scorpions just make WS’s money too?

Isn’t it telling you need to purchase insurance to cover you in the event of a cancellation? They’re telling you even before they get your money, “if anything happens, we are going to fuck YOU, not THEM”. There’s actually an insurance product available in case they won’t hold up their end of the bargain.

Slightly related and to shed light on why I also hold the Scorps partially accountable. I was hacked on a guitar forum I rarely frequented. The hacker got a hold of some poor woman and scammed her out of 75 bucks for a set of pickups that of course didn’t exist. Someone hit me up I was hacked and what happened. I reclaimed my account, contacted the woman, got the details about what happened and sent her the 75 bucks. Let her know the REAL me is genuine, authentic and has some integrity. Scorps can absolutely step in and make this right. If they choose not to, they filled half a venue on deceit. That’s no way for a rock legend to operate.

Went through this with ticketmaster, livenation, west jet, air Canada, Amazon...

This is why I use mastercard for everything.

What amuses me is these companies argue that they want you to buy insurance for canceled shows or flights to get a refund, Mastercard just laughs at them too.
