This Beastie Boys tone is solid on big or little speakers..

Does anyone know how to reproduce this recorded tone. It's a classic Beastie boys Metal guitar sound, but i'm interested in the details of getting this specific tone.
Is it dependent on proximity to amp to add that resonant excitation?
What kind of amp and settings on the Axe FX II Ares 1.03 would be suitible to aproximate this tone?
I ask because that tone translates really well to different size speakers, radio, etc. Thanks for you suggestions. :)

Thanks for the suggestion, chrisjnyc. Ya, after listening to the youtube, i think i'm hearing a basic high gain Marshall like tone, but at a high enough volume to have some high frequency string/pickup excitation and early reflections. I'll check out Kerry King and his rig. Thanks.
