Thinking about getting an Axe

You won't be disappointed! I've only had the xl+ for 2 yrs now and I was like you. Was on the fence about getting one. I've been building my rig since I got it and I'm just about done. But do to money I did it piece by piece. First the axe, was playing it through my mesa mark iv and a 412 cab. Then I got the mfc101 and a couple ev1 pedals. That opened up the functionality of my axe but I was having a hard time getting great low end through my mesa. So then I bought an 8u rack space and decided to buy a power amp. I bought a matrix gt1600fx and a matrix fr212 cab and bam! All the low end I could ever want at any volume. I'm super happy with it! I'm gonna get another fr212 and a rack mount wireless unit and I'm done. I forgot to mention my mesa mark iv is just sitting collecting dust at the moment. The versatility of the xl+ is so much greater than just one amp and one sound. Best wishes!
