The Triaxis model is so good that I can even nail my
modded Triaxis' tone with some tweaking. It's a slight mod to the Lead 1 Recto board that makes it a bit tighter and more modern sounding. It's excellent and I don't think I could ever sell it. Here's a copy/paste of the guy describing the mod to me in case anybody is interested academically:
Basically, when Mesa removed the phat mod from the TX4 board, the circuit improved. However, Mesa designed the removal of the Phat mod incorrectly in my opinion. Here are my changes:
----------
1) Add 4 resistors:
R9 :120k Ohm
R44 : 33k Ohm*
R45 : 330k Ohm
R46 : 82k Ohm
2) Add 4 disc. caps:
C5, C6 & C12 : 0.001 µF
C22 : 47 pF
3) Change these 2 resistors near the center of the board and labelled MID & BASS. Replace them with:
R33 (MID) : 1meg Ohm
R34 (BASS) : 10k Ohm
There is one resistor and one cap that I left stock. This is a much better sounding mod than the official Fat Mod removal.
*Correction: Actually I believe I used 3k3 Ohm at R44, not 33k. A lower value results in less top-end.
