Soooo much space in there to put more footswitches..... its a shame really all that wasted space.
They could have probably designed a different layout for the multicable connector, but right now that's what dictactes the height of the whole switch board, so they can't be moved downwards to make space for more switches.
Then again, having three is probably a design decision aimed to keep the price low while offering enough control if used as a regular pedal.

Not that I could see. All memory states are saved while the unit is powered in non-volatile memory banks, so they don't need power to keep anything saved.
To use as a non-plugged pedal you would need an external battery, like those big ones for cell phones, I guess.
