The Dumbles, holy crap, the DUMBLES!

"i really have no clue whats "THE" dumble sound nor i havnt heard any dumble in real life yet,"

"...Forget the porn guitar sound track kings (Ford and Carlton)..."

Unless, of course, you're interested in what MOST people are referencing when they speak of "the Dumble sound". In that case, you might want to listen to Robben Ford's and Larry Carlton's recordings, as well as those others that LVC obviously personally prefers.

+1

Since V13 I've finally bonded with the Dumbles.

With my Strat they sound best with the bridge pup and the tone control rolled almost off. That is a great sweet spot for the guitar and amp together. You have to make the amp overly bright at first. But when you get the gtr tone control in that spot... instant success.

I found that the jumpered HiWatt amp does that really well, too. I think that when you roll the tone pot all the way down (or close to it), you get a resonant peak at some mid frequency. With an amp that will distort when pushed, you get a creamy & responsive tone due to the pushed mids. Position 2 on a Strat (Bridge & Middle) usually sounds really cool with that setup, too.

Forget the porn guitar sound track kings (Ford and Carlton) -- listen to Rick Vito (Bob Seger) and David Lindley (Jackson Browne).

Classic hall of fame rock guitar solos all done on Dumbles.

...or Karl Ratzer :eagerness:

Was David using Dumbles on the Runnin' on Empty tour? Or was that Marshall's?

Yes

the DL solo from "Running On Empty" is on a dumble.

Buzz Levin (Lark Street Music) recently had one of Lindley's Dumbles for sale.

As an FYI, alexander dumble for a while actually lived on Jackson Browne's estate. Jackson Browne is another Dumble fanatic -- Stevie Ray Vaughn got hooked on Dumbles playing one of Jackson Browne's Dumbles.

Loved the Joe Bonamassa article in this month's Vintage Guitar mag.

He bought his second Dumble from Steven Seagal, yes THAT Steven Seagal... lol

Ah man that brings up old memories from years ago.. found out Steven Seagal had a couple of blues albums out. Never listened to any of his work, but thought it was cool because he was an action movie star and all he was known for was his fighting scenes. Saw a picture of an album cover and his hands looked huge compared to a strat neck best I can remember lol. Also saw some of his pics of his gear and he had a nice taste in music gear.

I saw them on that tour in Nashville, TN, USA at the Municipal Auditorium.

I'm admire David's music. His electric and acoustic slide work is really great.

When I saw them, David sat on the edge of the stage with his hair down in his eyes. Was kind of creepy lol. But he wailed on solo after solo.

Any chance of those Dumble cabinets showing up as UltraRes IRs in a future Cab Pack? They're still my favorite cabs for lead.

The next IR session is going to be the "4x12 UltraRes" session. The list of cabs we are going to capture are currently:

Mesa Rectifier Oversize Straight (the original one with the straight cabinet but slanted baffle)
Orange PPC412
EVH 5150 III
Marshall 1960TV
Dumble
and possible a Mills.

Mills? I played through a fellow guitarist from another band's Mills Acoustic 2x12. I believe its called the "Afterburner". That thing was more than impressive! It swallowed every 4x12 I've ever run my Roaster through! It filled the room better and was more articulate than any cab I've ever tried. It had it all, low end that was night and tight but could still make the walls rumble, nice articulation, clarity, punch... Damn fine cabs if you ask me.

Heck yissssss. Got a ballpark figure when these might be available?

Oh hell yes. Take my money now and go to the studio. I just got a chubby thinking about that list of cabs in ultra-Rez. The TV cab is still one of my faves.

Thank you. That makes dropping $50K+ on the actual amp less painful, LOL.

If we think in terms of actual Axe units (say the mark II) then we have roughly 22 units retail. Take out your overhead (guessing at that of course) and that probably jumps to near double! Lots of Axes for one dumble....Crazy:topsy_turvy:

Nice! Looking forward to that one. I just bought pack 4 and am loving it, in particular the classA IRs. Great value - thanks.

Re Dumbles - your 50k$ shines through for sure!

You seem to be forgetting costs of goods sold. Based on the comparatively low sales volume and niche market pricing, I'd suspect a profit margin between 40-60%, since there is no distributor or retailer profit margins.

....but wait until you hear the Pacosipulami Overdrive Mini (6Watt, 2-12AX7, 1-6V6GT, 1-5Y3 tubes, Single Channel Design!)....coming soon!

Here is a preview....

.....unfortunately, I don't have a traditional speaker cabinet here......but watch out! The Pacosipulami Overdrive Mini is some serious business! :devilish::mrgreen

After this weekend (german axefest 2014) I can say the Pacosipulami Overdrive Mini is by far the best d-style amp I EVER played.....man, the sustain over a Diezel 2x12" cab was just unbelievable.....I was not the only one, who saw and heard the amp. PS: 6Watt is f*cking loud!!!! :)

Clips comin' soon....
