The Beatles Revolution

boltrecords

Fractal Fanatic
Can anyone come up with a good patch for the beatles revolution distortion? ive tried so many times and cant seem to get anything that sounds close. i heard that they recorded that song just by going straight to the sound board and then turned up the channel gain.
anyone have anything close?
seems like the axe should be fully capable of that sound
thanks dudes

that worked great thanks...i think im getting close. it definitely has that sound. i just have to figure out what to do with the eq to give it that raw sound they have. sounds a little closer when ipull out the treble.

i dont know how to explain that sound other than it has more of a wahhhh wahhhh sound insead of a Neeee neeee sound. lol . im maily referring to that opening riff

such a cool tone...maybe more mids and presence

sure. i cant figure out how to post my preset syx file....can someone direct me a bit.
where do i find the syx file?

not sure if i did this right
i tried to attach the file

Yeah, the elimination of a cab/cabsims is key. It's the guitar vs. a recording desk. The perfect marriage of two things that hate each other.

...interesting & unique tone, for sure.
Each sound clip has a part of the sonic palette.....boltrecords, it needs more of that natural "break up". Your doin' great with it...

thanks. im finding that i can back off the drive a bit. i think i had too much before. sounded a little too muddy.
im still searching for that particular eq frequency that gives there tone that distinct sound. ive been playing around with some compression too.

Hey Don, would it be possible for you to record a quick demo of yours. I have a friend who really wants an Axe but doesn't have one yet who loves the Beatles. I'd like to show it to him if possible, and I don't know how to play it to do the demo myself.

hi DLM,

unfortunately I'm having trouble with soundcloud.com
wouldn't Ketil Strand's demo be better for this? @ 5:22 DayTripper, Ticket to Ride, I Feel Fine

anyway, just playing something similar to the intro should work - it's a pretty unique sound.

It would be hilarious if someone bought the Axe because it can produce this messed up Über-fuzz. And pretty cool, too. :)

Thanks Don. Just out of curiosity, do you know what the original gear was on the recording? Amp guitar and effects wise? I tried to make my own this morning. I'm listening to the original song now and I need to add more high mids and highs to mine to make it edgier. I also don't have the right guitar for the tone, but I've gotten fairly close just throwing something together. Man the Axe makes it so easy to get a quick approximation of pretty much any tone you want.

I'm not Don, but the story I heard is direct into the desk at Abby Road w/ a p-90 loaded casino.

Ok cool. I was just playing with it and I got some cool results running two tube pre blocks in series. I also put in a slight bit of phaser and flange for edge. Mostly I'm just playing around with it for the experience of tone tweaking. I need to grab my squire strat. It has a brighter tone than my C1 with blackouts. I'll give that a shot. Thanks for the info hogan. :)

I got the info from page 1 ;) and build the patch accordingly, adding a tape dist for good measure and some PEQ/filters to match the tone on the record.
