Bug? The Axe Fx II midi-ports do not work in REAPER

Yes, I can get midi signals going into the computer in other Software, but in REAPER it does not work! Maybe REAPER mixes up midi in and out of the Axe. I do´nt know if it´s a Bug in REAPER or in the Axe driver. Maybe you should get in touch with Cockos Incorporated to fix this issue.

Well, not sure what to answer, because i am not a specialist, but I can assure that i have done many classic midi things within reaper + Axe FX II and my midi foot controller Voes MC10
I mean:
  • Scene / preset change (need a midi track on reaper project)
  • Start / stop play along files (need an midi/USB interface if i remember well).

I am sorry not to be able to describe it precisely now, but I am sure that midi + Axe FX II + Reaper works perfectly, because i have used it in the past

example from my friend bigtim
(he is a Reaper master)

If you're referring to the midi through/out - it does not work. I wrote to tech support directly. The guy was honest and told me it won't be further developed obviously since the II is not being made anymore. And there is no firmware fix for it. If there's anyone out there with a II and the midi through works - please chime in.

For my needs, I solved the problem by buying an inexpensive midi splitter. (I send midi from a foot controller to both the Axe and a laptop).

You are perfectly right.
The midi thru doesn't work (I am not a midi specialist enough to confirm the opposite)

I didn't understand that aspect well in your first post .

What I explained is that you can perfectly have midi dialog Axe FX II / Reaper (scene or preset change) by using a midi track.
Reaper will send then midi change to the AXE FX (midi in)
