Taking the plunge

I have the FM3 and the GT-1000. Thought I’d miss the dual amps that the Boss unit provided. Nope, not even a little bit. I run the FM3 into two Cerwin Vega‘s set to flat mode. Very, very happy.

Hmm. voice of dissent here. Helix native is a pretty competent plugin for producing realistic amp like tones. The fractal is indeed king of the heap, but if the Helix native isn’t doing it for you, this may not be a medium you’ll find satisfaction in. I can dial in helix native to be pretty convincing.

Yea I’d say if you can’t get a good tone from helix native or a hardware helix you aren’t using good impulse responses. The stock impulses in line 6 products are pure garbage imo but the amp models aren’t bad at all. Third party impulses should make a drastic improvement.

thanks, so presumably you use the FM3 more?

It really depends. If I am recording, I tend to use the Axe III more. Rehearsals, I always take the FM3.
Honestly, either unit is great as it is.
