Synthetic Synths

Cool video.

I use a number of similar things for getting "weird" when improvising.

Since we have Envelope follower, ADSR, LFOs all over the place, multiple ways to pitch shift and control parameters it is pretty easy and fun.

A few things I like:

  • Using the Filter block with Envelope/ADSR/expression pedal
  • Using Octave Divider in Pitch block (-1 and -2 octaves)
  • Blending in a +1 or +2 octave with an expression pedal
  • Phaser + Envelope controller
  • Ring Modulator
  • Bit reduction and Sample Rate reduction on the Drive block

Gave it the old college try, and am pretty happy with how it turned out! Not perfect yet, but a good starting point.
~80% usage on 18.03 (running a turbo model, so you may want to shunt some blocks).
Scene 6 has the "synth" with some other fun stuff going on.
In context, 1-4 are clean/crunch/heavy/lead tones I've been toying around with for a few days. I'm mostly running through a traditional cab, but there's a cab block in there if you want to try it in cans.
