Steve Vai / Jason Becker, David Lee Roth H3000 settings??

I've been listening to some old David Lee Roth albums and there's something with Vai's and Becker's (A Lil Ain't Enough) tone that is I can tell is a harmonizer (probably H3000). It probably a mircopitch, but when I use the dual detune it doesn't sound as "creamy". I'm probably just not setting it correctly. Anyone have any ideas?
