(step-by-step tutorial) cheap 40$ Midi Bluetooth TRS footswitch for Fractal (M-Vave Chocolate)

Bought this cable and did all the setup and nothing is working. I do not have a bluetooth adapter and assumed this works with TRS->MIDI but I cant get it working at all having followed the instructions.

Blue light continues flashing, and display reads 00 then -- or blank when a switch is pressed. No idea how to troubleshoot :(

Make sure the cable is wired correctly (use a multimeter), as shown in the picture I posted earlier in this thread (I suspect it’s not). The blue light flashing doesn’t matter — you can turn it off by holding buttons B and C for 5 seconds.

Turning off blue light with this didnt work :(

I checked the controller and did everything according to the instructions. Now it works. Everything is fine. Button 1 works as Tap tempo, buttons 2 and 3 switch scenes up and down, button 4 is a tuner. I encountered a problem with the correct pinout of the cable. I had to open it and re-solder it according to the instructions. Now the question is how to make all four buttons assigned to scenes 4, 5, 6 and 7??
Could you please explain how to set up the chocolate button 4 to activate tuner with first touch and then turn it off after the second one?

Anyone using firmware 11 with the standard MWave Choc? I set it all up as described, but can only use some of the potential functions.
The FM3 recognizes a midi input and functions like scene or preset up/down are working with momentary or long press on the mwave. But things like hold for a effect bypass or activating/deactivating the tuner are not working.
I tried it via bluetooth and a MIDI-TRS type A cable. I checked via MidiView on Mac, that the correct CCs are sent by the mwave.

Anyone a helpful advice for me?

You can try to update the Chocolate firmware.

Has anybody got their Chocolate Plus to work using the USB Host function? USB A out of the Chocolate into the Axe FX's USB? Can't get it to work. Might not be possible

The only thing one should know is that the midi BT adapter will occupy midi in and midi out of your FM3 and this configuration doesn't allow for any further extension in your midi loop.
(came across this flaw when using such an adapter for integrating a tablet via BT).
There are solutions with CME BT adapters but who need 5Vdc power supply (you can't always have what you want 😉)

AFAIK the AXE Fx does not allow usb host.
I thought I read that Axe FX allows MIDI In through USB, but maybe not. When I have the USB plugged into my computer, the “MIDI In” lights up on the front panel, but now with the Chocolate. Either way, I’m happy with the wireless setup.

The III does and I think FM9 also. FM3 does not, you'll need a usb to midi converter like M-audio midisport 2x2 (and so many others).

So we know that TRS mode should work, right?
Youtube says TRS-to-midi works:

I was trying it with my usual MIDI cable, which was connected to Chocolate with MIDI-to-TRS connector. Nothing worked, so I guess the issue is the connector itself. I'll buy another cable and will try again.

Did anyone continue experiments? @overture1922 @rodbettencourt ?

I tried to connect 2 Chocolates using TRS-2-TRS but it didn't work either. Now I'll try to connect them using MIDI Y-splitter https://aliexpress.ru/item/10050013...lit.4.3a7c4aa69AoWo8&sku_id=12000015725982733 or maybe some kind of serial connectors using MIDI https://aliexpress.ru/item/10050067...lit.3.3a7c4aa69AoWo8&sku_id=12000040746920333

Any further ideas? :)
Maybe https://aliexpress.ru/item/10050057...lit.6.3a7c4aa69AoWo8&sku_id=12000034333467982 to connect two Chocolates using TRS outputs?

My target is to build the OMG15 using 3 Chocolates and FM3 :)

I've just bought this product which supposed to make it work for 2 chocolate.

Unfortunatly, as I made the purchase in US I'm just gonna be able to try it when I come back to Brazil in january 2026
