SPICE in real-time

Given the processing power of current CPU's, I'm wondering how close real-time SPICE level guitar amp simulation is at this point?

Quantum isn't real-time, but I'm curious about Ares.
Well, in the second link I posted Cliff said "the beautiful thing about the Quantum algorithms is that they are basically real-time SPICE models" while in the first link he says real-time SPICE could run only on a super-computer.
I'm confused

With regard to the Axe-Fx III, this was posted less than a year ago:

"The extra DSP horsepower means that we didn't have to make compromises in some of the algorithms. The amp modeling algorithm is very similar but there's a few places on the II where we had to make compromises to get the algorithm to run within the allotted time."

And there have been some improvements to the III's amp modeling since then.

Will that be based on the same processor in the upcoming Axe FX5?
With holographic display and Featuring new digilog technology. Neural audio transmission. Transferring audio information directly to your brain completely bypassing your ears. This way everyone “hears” the exact same thing, with the full audio spectrum we, as humans were born with.

I thought the current quantum/ares modeling was already based on real-time SPICE, but doing a search I found somewhat contradictory info:

I think this is about slightly different things. When he says you can't run SPICE in real time, he means SPICE the program - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPICE. You can't run this program in real time. That quote is a reply to a question about whether you can plug your guitar into SPICE, so that's the answer. You wouldn't need an Axe-FX if you could do it with SPICE.

That program does circuit simulation. Axe-FX does circuit simulation (although not for all components), and it does it in real time. In Axe-FX, similar functionality is implemented differently, probably using shortcuts, simplifications, approximations or whatever. Hence the other quote, "basically real-time SPICE models".
